Role Value Proposition:


Support the Internal Controls Department (ICD) Director in providing oversight for the Company's determination and execution of its control framework related to internal controls over financial reporting of the US GAAP consolidated financial statements of MetLife Inc's and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company (“ICFR”) filed with the SEC under the 1934Act, as well as Internal Controls under Model Audit Rules (MAR) of the NAIC for applicable US legal entities. This role will provide key support to an ICD Director on IT processes and controls and will also assist on other key initiatives within the ICD team.


Key Responsibilities:


Assists in the oversight of the SOX and MAR control framework with respect to Global Technology Operations (GTO) technology processes, IT general controls, and applications supporting all in-scope business processes (i.e., both GTO and non-GTO). Partners with other members of ICD, as well as non-ICD SOX coordinators embedded within the business, to provide support related to application controls and assesses whether deficiencies rise to the level of monitored deficiency, significant deficiency, or material weakness. Assists the Director in evaluating, monitoring, and assessing the remediation of certain IT control deficiencies as well as ensuring that MetLife successfully designs and implements new internal control processes, as needed, as part of its efforts to implement new US GAAP accounting standards (e.g., Long Duration Targeted Improvements) and other finance transformation initiatives. Supports management and external audit with respect to exceptions tracking and follow up related to Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) 18reports issued to customers. Partners with internal audit and IT Risk on technology-related control deficiencies and assists in determining the impact to the SOX/MAR program. Partners with LOB teams to assess and manage the SOX application scoping and control framework, ensuring proper understanding of scoping rationale and ITGC coverage for all apps and utilities. General understanding or exposure to risks relevant to agile/SDLC methodologies, cloud computing and cybersecurity. Supports the Business Information Security Officer (BISO) delegate for the Finance Management Group to support FMG's response to various information security compliance initiatives. Supports the Open Pages governance, risk, and compliance application.



Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills


Required:

B.A./ B.S. in one of the following areas: Accounting, MIS, Economics and Finance 3-5 years of related work experience Background in financial reporting, internal control and/ or SOX at a global organization Experience working with SOX and the COSO control framework Proficient understanding of application and infrastructure general risks and controls relevant for ICFR Ability to comprehend IT dependencies within complex business processes and explain relevant application and IT infrastructure general risks and controls Self-starter who works independently and has strong written and verbal communication skills Key skills include problem solving, attention to detail, analytical thinking and decisiveness Strong relationship building and collaboration

Preferred:

CPA or CIA certification is preferred, but not required Specialized IT training or certification preferred, including CISA or GSNA certifications Big Four auditing experience a plus, particularly experience with SSAE 18 SOC 1 and 2 MBA or other advanced degree is a plus
