Your new role
We are seeking an experienced Mid-Senior Level Estimator to lead on estimates with the support of an Assistant Estimator. You will be responsible for bidding on projects valued between $1Million - $5Million.

The Senior Estimator provides effective leadership to the affiliated division's estimating group through all aspects of the estimating life cycle. Your capabilities:
Negotiate prices with vendors/subcontractors through quotations for materials/services
Coordinate bid preparation requirements with the
estimating team
Prepare budgets, subcontracts, purchase orders and assist in preliminary project schedules
Review proposal specifications, drawings, soil reports and existing site conditions to determine the scope of work
Estimate indirect cost including management, construction equipment and tools, support facilities

Job Requirements:
5+ years experience as a construction

As a Federal Estimator, you will analyze project specifications, work closely with various stakeholders, and develop accurate cost estimates that align with government requirements. JOB DUTIES
Supports business development and operations departments by providing bids/quotes to both established and potential clients.
Collaborates with other estimators.
Carefully prepares complete estimates by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents. Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
Works and teams with subcontractors to aid in determining pricing for bids.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
5 to 10 years of proven experience as an estimator in the Federal/DoD construction arena required. Vertical construction experience HIGHLY DESIRED.
Knowledge of SABER and JOC Coefficient contracts required.
Experience using RS Means is a must.
Must have general working knowledge and understanding of all types of construction planning/specifications that may be applicable to the projects undertaken.-
Must be able to visualize and develop project budgets and possess excellent communication skills.
Candidates must also have strong computer skills and be proficient with estimating software.
Timberline software knowledge strongly preferred.
Ability to multi-task while working with tight deadlines and shifting priorities
Detail oriented and thorough.
Ability to work as a team player to accomplish day to day activities.
Preferred applicants will have a degree or high school diploma/GED, or the equivalent.

The Role
Reporting to the Design Manager, you will play a key role in contributing to tenders, ensuring constructability, and supporting the delivery of safe, cost-effective infrastructure solutions. In this role, you will support the delivery of telecommunications projects by preparing detailed designs, drawings, and estimates that meet both client expectations and internal project requirements.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
Develop and prepare technical sketches, working diagrams, and detailed construction drawings to support project delivery.
Liaise with clients to refine and adjust designs, ensuring they align with expectations for functionality, cost, and compliance.
Assist in the preparation of tenders and submissions by completing technical design and estimation components.
Conduct site visits and liaise with field staff to resolve constructability concerns and gather practical data.
Maintain and improve estimating procedures, including the collection and compilation of Practical Completion Data.
Skills And Experiences
You:
Ability to use AutoCad, MS Suite, ProEst, MapInfo and GIS tools.
Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, and specifications.

Responsible for preparing and/or coordinating the preparation of full estimates for small to large, often complex projects as required per customer's bid documents to provide a complete written proposal, along with inclusions, exclusions, specific notes, and qualifications as applicable.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Reviews and interprets requests for quotes (RFQ's).
Reviews estimates for completeness and accuracy.
Reviews and understands bid documents, including all specifications and scope of work.
Executes take-offs from design (contract) drawings.
Inputs take-offs into Trimble Tekla EPM (formerly known as FabSuite) and/or Excel templates.
Proficient in email communication. This position is heavily-reliant on emailing for a written record of events.
Learns and adheres to the company's estimating procedure.
Obtains and reviews vendor pricing for materials, subcontract services, etc. and files all relevant electronic information in digital quote folders.
Prepares cost estimate analysis and captures all applicable costs incurred from the fabrication of steel components.
Generates proposals based on clearly stated assumptions and company standards, even when detailed information is lacking.
Informs immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items.
Develops and maintains resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, etc.
Attends departmental meetings as required.
Qualifications
Education: BS in Construction Management/Construction Sciences/Engineering OR in lieu of education, the equivalent combination of technical training and related steel construction experience.
Must have a minimum of 5 years working experience at a steel fabricator estimating heavy steel for complex bridge or tank projects.
Basic math skills.
Accurate and detailed oriented.
Must have the aptitude for the comprehensive reading of plan drawings and the ability to interpret project specifications.
Working knowledge of field operations and project management is a plus.
Must be self-motivated and self-sufficient who can apply these skills directly to estimates and constructability, to generate competitive bids.
Ability to present oneself as professional, innovative, and creative.
Able to foster a positive professional work environment both onsite with trade partners and in the office with co-workers.
Ability to handle many tasks successfully, even within tight time constraints.
Software Requirements: MS Windows, Excel (Proficient level), Word, and Outlook. AutoCAD preferred but not required.
Understand, or have the motivation and ability to learn, the AISC codes and guidelines, AISC Code of Standard Practice, AWS D1.1, AWS D1.5, and ASME Code.
Experience with Trimble Tekla EPM and Bluebeam is preferred.
