  1. Talk about what makes you unique. You don’t need to walk through your resume point by point when you’re writing your cover letter, but you should pick one or two qualifications or experiences that make you unique and then expound on them.

    Use your cover letter as an opportunity to explain the circumstances surrounding your greatest accomplishment or to highlight your skills by talking about one of your most difficult customer service interactions.     You should also provide quantitative details that back up your claims as much as possible.

  2. Talk about what you would bring to the company. Hiring managers don’t just want to know how great you are; they want to know what value you’d add to the company. When you’re closing your letter, finish with a call to action of some kind. This is usually a note about how you’d love to talk more about the position with the recipient, coupled with a note of thanks for their time and consideration.

While you don’t need to put your address, email address, and phone number at the top of the page if you’re sending your cover letter as an email, you will need to include at least your email address and phone number under your signature.

However, whatever you do, don’t list your current work email address or use it to send your cover letter.
