Your Opportunity
As a Senior Transportation Engineer, you will leverage your experience with Texas highway and roadway projects to assist in our growing Texas practice and manage the design and delivery of various projects from conceptual planning, through design, construction, and completion.
You will perform a variety of tasks with potentially complex features that will require the application of mature knowledge, sound principles and best practices.
The role of a Senior Transportation Engineer is to work independently on smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project. You will lead the design of assigned projects to ensure reliability, resource efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
You may provide supervision and guidance to a group of employees, assigning tasks, checking work at frequent intervals for accuracy and completeness; and maintaining budgets and schedules. You may support proposal efforts to expand our project base in the Texas market.
Your Key Responsibilities
Lead the development of project plans and drawings for various projects including urban and rural roadways, highways, rail, transit, trails, and intersections
Prepare complex engineering designs and plans for urban and rural roadways and highways
Develop budgets and monitor work of assigned team to ensure budgets and schedules are met
Coordinate with Project Managers, project team and clients
Responsible for design, review and sealing of assigned projects
Supervise the work of engineers and CAD assigned
Lead and develop junior staff
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Thorough understanding of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions
Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgement, creativity, and innovation
Proficient in MicroStation and - OpenRoads 3D modeling tools, and other relevant design software
Strong knowledge of the Department of Transportation's legal requirements, design/planning procedures, and PSE plan production in relevant jurisdictions
Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical though, and effectively communicate ideas, design issues and solutions to others
Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule
Effective communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Transportation Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field
Licensed Professional Engineer required. Existing Texas PE or ability to obtain a Texas PE within six months of hire required
Minimum of 10 years highway/roadway design experience - TxDOT Precertification preferred

Under the direction of the Supervisor of the Food Production Unit, the Mechanical Engineer conducts technical analyses and performs project management functions in the planning, development, and implementation of the California Energy Commission's (CEC) Food Production Investment Program (FPIP) to accelerate the adoption of advanced energy efficiency and decarbonization technologies that support electric grid reliability and maximize the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions within the California food processing sector. The Mechanical Engineer performs and participates in a wide variety of assignments, including engineering assessments and research, research solicitation development and management, project management, market and technology transfer, energy policy analysis, and advisement. The Energy Research & Development Division deploys over $300 million annually to advance new scientific approaches and technology innovations to meet the state's clean energy and climate change policies, including but not limited to the areas of renewable energy supply, building and industrial decarbonization, sustainable transportation, energy storage, energy distribution, resilience and reliability, and carbon management.

Responsible for planning and conducting design work on building structures requiring advanced judgment in the evaluation, selection and application of engineering techniques with increasing difficulty. Experience with procedures and criteria for various project types, including but not limited to concrete, steel, masonry, and wood. Works closely with project team internally and externally to deliver projects. Coach and Mentor junior staff. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical
Under limited supervision, performs a variety of engineering tasks, including:
Performs engineering design tasks with limited guidance for up to level 2 projects.
Performs engineering design tasks with guidance for level 3 projects and above.
Conducts research
Build and debug engineering model.
Review and understand data outputs from engineering model.
Formulate and solve problems with guidance.
Preparing drawings and visual aids with limited guidance.
Perform construction activities with limited guidance for up to level 2 projects.
Assist in construction activities with guidance for level 3 projects and above.
Project Management
Review individual weekly project staffing report.
Guide Structural Designer(s) with assigned tasks where appropriate. Communicate appropriate technical components and expectations with completion time. Review your week project staffing report.
Understand the scope, project fee structure and contractual obligations we have agreed with our client. Bring work requested by the client that is outside the agreement to the attention of the Senior Engineer.
Communicate with the internal Project Team and the External Design Team, and clients as appropriate. Communicate with Senior Leaders when the scope, complexity or the duration of the tasks assigned changes.
Manage your personal time to deliver on all project tasks assigned and communicating to respective Project Managers when there are conflicts or competing schedule demands.
Understand and perform QA/QC protocol for all tasks for which you are responsible.
Understand client service expectation.
Understand key financial performance indicators for successful project completion, including on-time and on-budget objectives. Recognize and alert Senior Engineer if a project is potentially going off track and needs intervention to get back on track.
Attend meeting with Senior Engineer to discuss active projects.
Manage up to Level II projects.

Develop Engineering and Drawing standard SOP with guidance.

Conduct presentations internally, including kick off meetings, and project wrap up meetings. Participate in presentations externally, including kick off meetings, and project wrap up meetings.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients
Understand how role fits into the larger strategic plan of the organization.
Keep alert for existing clients who may need additional services that the firm can provide, and inform the leadership team accordingly.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
B.S. and/or M.S. Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering and/or Masters' degree in Structural Engineering or 8 years of related experience.
4+ years working in the field of structural engineering.
CA Professional Engineer License

Sr. Design Engineer-Open Until Filled
Florida
Starting placement will generally not exceed 15% of the advertised minimal salary and is based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. The Senior Design Engineer Performs supervisory and professional engineering design work. The Senior Design Engineer is a leader in the production of the design of projects and in the accomplishment of the many actions necessary to bring a project to construction, such as the production of engineering design of projects, processing permits, and preparing contract documents. This position is also heavily involved in the engineering review of site plans both public and private developments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Plans, organizes, coordinates, and implements Capital Improvement Projects through consultants, city, county, state, and federal agencies to ensure that all assigned projects meet the required goals including the public interests, County policies, regulatory requirements, and engineering standards.
Supervise up to two full-time employees in the design and preparation of engineering projects.
Design Capital Improvement Projects, process permits, and prepare contract documents.
Reviews site and construction plans for conformity to accepted design standards, applicable local codes, ordinances, County policies and other applicable standards.
Evaluates routine operational or maintenance problems within the County street and drainage network and develops solutions for small projects.
Provides financial oversight and acts as a back-up to the Construction Project Engineer
Designs minor projects, processes permits, and prepares contract documents.
Completes miscellaneous tasks as assigned by the Chief of Engineering Design, Chief of Engineering Coordination, Director of Engineering Services and Public Works Director.

COMPLEXITY OF WORK
The work supervised consists of complex technical assignments, and projects, often in difficult situations, requiring thorough understanding of civil engineering principles and issues to make engineering sound judgments. Planning is conducted on a long-range basis in preparing for large design projects, and on a short-term basis in meeting recurring assignments and work flow. The work is affected by frequent changes in priorities and occasional changes in local, state, and federal guidelines, or programs. The work consists of a wide variety of complex management, environmental, engineering, and road maintenance tasks. The work is made difficult by the high degree of coordination required, the wide scope and diversity of services provided, and the volume of public demand for services.
INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CUSTOMER CONTACT
Employee has internal and external customer contact for the purpose of instructing and motivating technical staff to complete assignments; coordinating construction plans reviews, and providing professional engineering services; working with staff to resolve drainage complaint issues; coordinating with regulatory agencies for permit applications, engineering design, and drainage complaints; explaining and interpreting County policies/procedures; coordinating utility relocations with project design; meeting to review new products and applications; coordinating safety and access issues; et cetera.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and five years of experience post certification. This is a highly complex position which requires coursework in mathematics, statistics, fluid dynamics and engineering systems. Experience may not be substituted for education.

B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following:
* Professional registration or licensure -- Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Absent other means of qualifying under this standard, those applicants who achieved such registration by means other than written test (e.g., State grandfather or eminence provisions) are eligible only for positions that are within or closely related to the specialty field of their registration. For example, an applicant who attains registration through a State Board's eminence provision as a manufacturing engineer typically would be rated eligible only for manufacturing engineering positions.
* Written Test -- Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico.
* Specified academic courses -- Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A. The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A.
* Related curriculum -- Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least 1 year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions. A Miami-Dade County established Engineering firm is seeking an experienced Project Engineer.
The Project Engineer will be expected to perform a variety of routine assignments involved in either the coordination of various engineering aspects of a project, or the technical execution of the engineering components of a project including construction plans, specifications, schedules, cost-estimating, among others. Supports Project Manager in developing relationships with key project stakeholders; technical staff, permitting agencies, clients, community, among others.
