YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY:
The Director of Engineering is an engineering management position that is responsible for providing complete oversight for the direction, planning, management and ongoing engineering operations on a regional basis. Provide input on strategic decision making and processes to the VP, Engineering and other Directors and Officers. This key role will represent our Data Center/Mission Critical scope of work.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
You'll lead, consult and be customer facing. You'll bring your deep knowledge and expertise of Data Center, AI and Mission Critical work and manage a large scope of project work.
Reports directly to the Senior Director or Vice President, Engineering and participate in senior manager planning including engineering, detailing/modeling and principal engineering (non-production or not design related) work for the firm.
Develops and oversees the Engineering operation in their region of responsibility. Candidate is able to anticipate, plan and map group, team and staff skills to the work
You'll build and train your own staff throughout theregion of responsibility.
Responsible for the HR and budgetary oversight for the Regional Engineering group.
Ability to develop proposals and meet, present and secure work on behalf of the firm either alone or in concert with of others in the firm.
Directs preliminary engineering activities, such as the project development, programming or schematic design phase of work, when needed with a focus on large value or high risk work.
Directs delicate or significant project close-out, installation or manufacturing QA/QC or testing/commissioning operations on behalf of the Operations group. In short, firefight.
May be tasked to act as the firm's emissary for dispute resolution or sensitive client work or negotiations.
Ability to work independently with little direction based on the operating business plan and financial controls.
Ability to take executive-level guidance and develop a complete action plan for the required deliverables or project. This would encompass situations with murky or conflicting guidance or goals.
Develops or oversees complex and interrelated project-specific work, such as sequence of operations, equipment/system testing scripts or complex engineering products.
Visit project locations to ascertain existing conditions, perform feasibility studies, test factory-built systems prior to shipment and conduct field investigations as requested by the Operations Team..
Conducts value engineering evaluations to fully engineered designs.
Ability to evaluate project/system design criteria with budgetary issues.
Extensive knowledge of equipment and fluency in electrical system testing and commissioning is preferred.
Supports the firm's Pre-Construction efforts, especially in the fields of Estimating and Business Development. Assist in the identification and development of leads and closing of new work. Has the ability to maintain external customer relationships throughout the term of the relationship or project.
Ability to review and contract requirements.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
Advanced knowledge of all aspects of building systems electrical engineering, manufacturing or technology is required
Advanced management skills are required, including work planning, resource management, fee development, staff oversight, staff development and advancement planning.
Advanced knowledge of equipment and system testing and commissioning. The ability to analyze and resolve technically complex engineering problems.
Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.); Oracle preferred
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary
Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude
Effective oral and written communication skills as required for the position
Ability to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player
Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, Trade Partners, and others
WHAT YOU BRING TO US:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in electrical engineering, architectural engineering, construction sciences, or related discipline.

Registration as a licensed US-based Professional Engineer (P.E.) is required for this position.

Provide engineering management, facilities and automation support for a high velocity distribution facility. Develop, enhance or provide oversight of process automation application for present and future automation projects. Develop and implement, in a timely cost effective manner, technology to achieve user goals.
Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of Facility Management and Maintenance operations including facility aesthetics, ownership of equipment and plant facility performance, management and execution of on-going preventative maintenance plans, and management of continuous improvement projects.

Support the growth and development of Maintenance team members.

Lead and set expectations for the coordination of all engineering functions including process development, training, and capital projects.
Supervise the continuous improvement process. Assist operations management in developing and establishing performance standards and KPI's in conjunction with new equipment installations or process changes.
Develop with the DC Manager, Engineering Manager of Facilities, Capital Expenditure Budget and individual Capital Expenditure submissions for approval.
Actively participate on project teams contributing as the automation subject matter expert regarding system capabilities and system design decisions.
Provide strategic leadership in developing the Distribution Center's processes, systems, policies and procedures setting the future direction of the engineering function.
Provide 24 hour network guidance and support in diagnosing and resolving difficult automation hardware, software, instrument, and process problems to maintain system readiness. Frequently, this effort requires collaboration with other site maintenance disciplines. Communicate issue resolution summary to impacted area supervision.
Lead the startup of new/existing operations by ensuring code and configurations meet specifications and validation requirements. Stay current on technologies and engineering trends in order to recommend/incorporate as appropriate.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties
Directly supervise all engineering projects, and ensure proper completion of all duties.
Direct and coordinate all the maintenance activities of the hotel's facilities, including routine and preventive maintenance of guest rooms, public areas, back of house, and laundry operations.
Ensure the proper appearance of the hotel from the entrance to the roof. Direct and coordinate the maintenance of the parking lot and walk ways, the landscaping, service and trash areas, and the exterior of all buildings.

Manages consultant, contractor, and vendor contracts to ensure compliance with project budget and schedule, and assesses completeness of work. Ensures proper permitting.
* Serves as liaison for the division with other city departments, divisions, public and outside agencies and businesses. Represents the division in various committees and work groups. Receives and responds to complex and sensitive issues, such as sensitive citizen inquiries or contractor claims against the city. Handles inquiries and complaints from start through resolution in an efficient and timely manner.
* Provides responsible administrative and analytical support to an assigned division manager or section supervisor; prepares and presents special reports and analyses as required.
* Prepares applications and other documentation to obtain appropriate project permits, or approvals from local, county and state authorities.

Experience:
One year of professional (post-license) civil engineering experience in one or more of the following areas, depending on assignment: sanitary sewer planning, transportation planning, roadway planning, construction management, design, wastewater treatment design, flood control engineering or traffic engineering.
Training:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in civil engineering, or a field closely related to the essential functions.
May substitute combination of equivalent education and experience. The city assesses 1.5 years of fulltime related experience as equivalent to one year of education.
Licenses and Certifications:
Possession of a valid driver's license on the date of application, and maintenance thereafter.
Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a licensed civil engineer in any state on the date of application, and acquisition of certificate as a licensed civil engineer in the state of Nevada within six months of the date of appointment, and maintenance thereafter.
