In this role, you will…
Lead technical efforts on controls projects, working closely with Spring Project Managers and Engineering Leads.
Provide guidance, support, and feedback throughout project lifecycles to fellow engineers.
Develop PLC programs using Rockwell Automation software.
Design and implement HMI/SCADA systems across various platforms.
Create device layouts and electrical panel designs using AutoCAD Electrical.
Commission systems onsite—troubleshoot, test, and validate control systems in real-world environments.
Work directly with customers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure quality and timely project execution.
Participate in project scheduling and agile sprint planning to manage deliverables and timelines.
Requirements:
7+ years of controls engineering experience, ideally in the material handling or automation industry.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field—or equivalent experience.
Proven leadership or mentorship experience in previous roles.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to collaborate across teams and disciplines.
Solid experience with Rockwell Automation tools (Logix, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, etc.).
Comfortable with AutoCAD Electrical or similar design software.
Willingness to travel up to 40%, primarily for onsite commissioning and customer collaboration.
Passionate about continuous growth—both personally and professionally.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and general project documentation.
Nice to Have
Experience working in a project-based, consulting-style environment.
Exposure to customer-facing engineering work, with the ability to communicate complex ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
A background in growing into leadership from hands-on field engineering work.
Proximity to our home office in Nashville, TN is a strong plus, especially for collaboration and mentorship. While we encourage and support remote work, being nearby is highly valued for this level of role.
At Spring Automation, we believe in growing together and embracing challenges as a team. If you’re excited about this role but don’t check every box, we still encourage you to apply.
