Our client is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Project Engineer to provide mid-level project coordination support for engineering and capital projects across our energy delivery systems. This role supports project lifecycle phases from initiation through execution, tracking scope, schedule, budget, and risk, and working cross-functionally to ensure deliverables align with company standards, regulatory requirements, and operational objectives. Key Responsibilities: Project Support & Coordination: Support project managers and engineers in the planning and execution of utility-scale infrastructure projects. Maintain schedules, track milestones, and facilitate cross-functional team collaboration. Documentation & Reporting: Manage project documentation, including contracts, engineering packages, permits, and construction schedules. Ensure accuracy and timely distribution of project updates, cost reports, and performance metrics. Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a point of contact for internal stakeholders, contractors, vendors, and municipal agencies. Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, and capture action items. Budget & Procurement Tracking: Support procurement processes by coordinating purchase requisitions, vendor communications, and invoice tracking. Maintain cost documentation to align with capital expenditure requirements. Regulatory & Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to federal, state, and company regulations including environmental, safety, and engineering standards. Track permit requirements and assist with compliance submissions. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (preferred in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Administration) OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. 3+ years of project coordination experience within utilities, engineering, or construction sectors. Proficient with project management tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, SAP, SharePoint). Strong understanding of utility infrastructure and/or engineering workflows. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting electric or gas transmission/distribution projects. Familiarity with permitting, environmental compliance, or capital budget processes in a utility environment. PMP, CAPM, or similar project management certification. Exposure to Agile or Stage-Gate project methodologies.

Benchmark building performance and verify data through ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager or other relevant platforms. Conduct detailed energy audits to identify inefficiencies and propose recommendations for improvement. Review architectural, mechanical, and electrical plans and equipment specifications to evaluate current efficiency and suggest upgrades. Prepare comprehensive reports, including detailed analyses, graphical data representations, and recommendations for energy conservation measures (ECMs). Develop energy-efficient designs for systems, equipment, and processes. Obtain contractor bids, evaluate proposals, and manage implementation of energy conservation projects. Ensure projects adhere to budgets, timelines, industry standards, regulations, and approved specifications. Perform energy modeling, measurement, verification, and commissioning or retro-commissioning of building systems. Research and evaluate emerging energy technologies and recommend their adoption where applicable. Work closely with the leadership team to develop internal processes and procedures for energy efficiency projects. Train personnel and clients on energy management practices and sustainability principles. Translate complex technical information into accessible language for non-technical stakeholders. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovative solutions and ensure client satisfaction. Key Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, or Environmental Engineering; a Master's degree is a plus. Minimum 10 years of experience in energy engineering or a related field. At least 5 years of hands-on experience with benchmarking, conducting energy audits, preparing detailed reports, and implementing energy conservation projects. Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred. Certifications such as CEM (Certified Energy Manager), CEA (Certified Energy Auditor), or LEED Accredited Professional are highly desirable. Commissioning or retro-commissioning experience is a bonus. Strong understanding of building systems (HVAC, electrical systems) , energy and water efficiency principles, and innovative building technologies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare and present technical reports and explain technical concepts to diverse audiences. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage projects and mentor team members effectively. Proficiency in energy modeling software and other relevant tools. Expertise in Microsoft Excel and other software, including Microsoft Office, G-Suite, CRM platforms, project management tools, and assessment software. Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to develop creative solutions for complex challenges. Expertise in building automation systems (BAS) and smart building technologies. Ability to travel across the U.S. a few days each month during the first year (reduced in subsequent years). Knowledge of relevant regulations, industry standards, and energy conservation trends.
