    Cultivating Literacy reading teachers support families in implementing our reading program at home with their children. This is a hybrid position with most of the work taking place remotely. During the week of June 16th, this position will support three evening events at schools from 5-7 pm. All other work will be completed remotely. The teacher will conduct check-ins via phone call or video call. They will work closely with our program manager to monitor and track families' success. Responsibilities (primarily remote) Meet with families at three orientation events in Soledad. Meetings will take place in-person at our partner locations in Soledad. Providing individualized support to families of young readers Orally translate curriculum instructions as needed to parents who speak English and/or Spanish as their first language Guide families' progress using an online portal and one-on-one calls (video or phone) Work with our program manager to help support families and ensure satisfaction Qualifications Bachelor's degree (preferably in education) Classroom experience (formal or informal) Familiarity with early reading foundations such as phonics, phonological awareness, and comprehension Bilingual in Spanish and English Experience using Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.) Cultivating Literacy's mission: We cultivate diverse family support systems through engaging play-based learning to develop students' reading confidence. Our vision is that every child will know their full potential. This position will work with our Dual-Language Individualized Literacy Plan program: Designed to help 4-7-year-old children who need further instruction and practice in reading. Children undergo a reading assessment, and results are used to craft a custom 9-week reading plan. Parents implement the plan with their children while a reading coach guides them throughout their journey. At the end of the program, children exhibit growth in early literacy skills and confidence, while parents express feeling further agency in supporting their child's reading. Job Duties: Duties include, but are not limited to: * Advance the mission of the school by providing high-quality, positive, proactive asynchronous, and synchronous student learning through the LSS online learning management system and other learning platforms. * Demonstrate high-level content and/or grade-level expertise and ability to engage best practices in online teaching. * Actively monitor the academic progress of each assigned student and intervene as needed to ensure mastery and timely completion of enrollments. * Provide substantive, motivating, personalized, timely, and constructive feedback for all student assignments. * Support the curriculum team with content creation and course reviews as assigned. * Communicate proactively and responsively with students, parents, counselors, staff, and administrators via email, phone, video conference, and any other communication tools provided by LSS. * Be readily and proactively accessible to students and parents via virtual office hours, individual instruction and appointments, and parent-teacher conferences. * Participate collaboratively and professionally in school-wide meetings, events, communications and activities, both online and in person, with some required evening virtual events. * Engage in ongoing professional development (internal and external), practice self-assessment, and strive for continuous improvement. * Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and staff as well as LSS management and operations. * Perform other duties as assigned. Education/Credentials: * Bachelor's degree in applicable field required; Master's degree strongly preferred * Active education certification and commitment to ongoing compliance with state and local regulations relating to background checks and credentials. Essential Skills: * Ability to travel to attend in-person events, meetings, and training at least once or twice per year. * Excellent skills with word processing, productivity, communication, and educational technology tools; expertise with G-Suite, Learning Management Systems, and Student Information Systems strongly preferred. * Strong analytical, interpretive, evaluative, and constructive thinking, and organizational skills. * Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. * Access to dependable and high-quality internet and a quiet workspace that allows the Student Support Manager to be fully present and available to students, parents, and colleagues as needed during work hours (Monday through Friday from 8:30am - 5pm ET).
