As a Security Officer at MercyOne, you will police the Medical Center property to deter vandalism, prevent illegal entry and maintain order. Assists the Medical Center staff as requested with various tasks. * Functions as an important member of the Mercy Air Care ground support team, securing the landing pad and transporting the patients as needed. * Assists with and guarantees the secure arrival of deceased patients to the morgue, and/or the morticians custody. * Assists patients, visitors and employees with minor automotive difficulties, i.e., dead battery, flat tire, weather related difficulties, locked out of vehicle, out of fuel, etc. * Tours parking areas, grounds, buildings, examining doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure and not tampered with. * Assists staff with the passive restraint of uncooperative patients, visitors or employees to ensure the safety of all concerned. * Responds to stat calls regarding fire, theft, endangerment of life and property, or suspicious activity as required. * Maintains a frequent patrol of parking areas to deter possible theft, vandalism and physical violence and to detect unauthorized vehicles or persons on Medical Center property Schedule: * PRN * schedule will vary, day shift 6a-6p General Requirements: * Requires a valid driver's license. * Must be personable and demonstrate good communication skills. * Must have a genuine desire to help people without reservation. * Be able to recognize and anticipate possible needs of others. * Is able to communicate effectively with all members of the health care team. * Required to travel within the Siouxland region in order to perform job duties and responsibilities as assigned.     SUMMARY: This is general police work which involves the active involvement of Officers working with the community to identify potential problems and solutions to improve the quality of life in our community. Police work also involves the enforcement of all (i.e. Tribal and Federal) applicable ordinances, statutes, and laws for the Omaha Reservation. This may include Crime Prevention, investigation and detection, protection of life and property, traffic control and maintaining law and order in the community. Officers will be dealing with all age groups from juveniles to adults. Officers will also be dealing with all levels of the Criminal element. This work always has the potential for personal danger. Officers receive direction from the Chief of Police and carry our those assignments in accordance with established operating procedures, but at all times an officer must be able to act without direct supervision. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Exercise authority consistent with the obligation imposed by the oath of office. Patrol assigned areas on the Omaha Reservation to enforce laws, investigate crimes, and arrest violators. Shall promptly obey all legitimate orders. Drives vehicles though assigned areas, observing and investigates disturbances, such as unlawful intrusions, fines and property damage. Patrols designed areas of the reservation on foot, motorcycles, bicycles, horse, or car to serve and protect the public. Apprehends unauthorized persons found on property, using force if necessary, and releasing them to custody of authorities at facility. Writes case reports and keeps a daily log. Assumes control at accidents to maintain traffic flow, assist accidents and victims. And investigates causes of accidents; in extreme emergencies transport accident victims to local hospitals.
