The Tax Practice Group is seeking a tax associate with 4 or more years of tax experience. Ideal candidates will have experience handling a broad variety of federal, state and local tax matters as well as with startup tax issues, including qualified small business stock. Knowledge of general corporate law and M&A transactions is beneficial. Tax LL.M. preferred. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a team with an energetic practice spanning the nation. While we offer the flexibility to work remotely (hybrid), the preference is for the person filing this position to be based in Hanson Bridgett's San Francisco or Walnut Creek offices. The annual base compensation range for this California position is between $210,000 and $300,000. Placement within the salary range depends upon a number of factors including, but not limited to years of experience and professional skills required for this role.
Ideal candidates will have a distinguished academic background and impeccable references. CA Bar required. Strong research, writing and communication skills, high level of analytical skills as well as excellent and highly adaptable communication skills are required. The pay range for this position is $192,000 to $215,000; however, the base compensation presented to a candidate may vary based on skills and overall experience. What's the role?
Tax Specialists are a key part of the tax team responsible for managing client relationships while ensuring final annual tax products for clients are produced and delivered to clients within expected timelines. This includes:
Preparing tax records and reports for individual tax clients and/or business clients.
Assisting clients with IRS correspondence when appropriate.
Preparing 1099's and other year-end work.
Communicating and meeting with clients as requested; providing recommendations to assist clients with financial or tax needs.
What experience and skills do I need to be successful?
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting highly desired or equivalent work experience.
EA or CPA certification is highly desired or an ability to attain.
2 years or more of tax experience within a public accounting firm is preferred.

The Tax Accountant is responsible for timely and accurate preparation of sales and use tax related documentation to support timely and accurate filing of tax returns and other tax obligations.
Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly sales and use tax data.
Assist in the preparation of annual property tax filings.
Assist in gathering and reviewing sales tax exemption/resale certificates.
Responsible for filing of business license, annual reports, and other miscellaneous tax filings.
